First Look Footage: Channing Tatum In 'White House Down'

An American thriller film by Roland Emmerich, the guy who directed super-sized blockbusters like “Independence Day, ” “Godzilla” and “2012” and starring Channing Tatum, “White House Down” might just be the movie of summer 2013 if you’re into loud spectacle. Tatum, who has arguably had the best 2012 of any male contemporary thanks to three over-$100 million dollar grossers (“The Vow,” “21 Jump Street” and “Magic Mike“) stars as a United States Secret Service agent who must rescue the President of the United States (Jamie Foxx) from a paramilitary group that has taken over the White House. Let’s guess, he’s new and unexperienced (first day on the job?), but somehow he “Die Hard“s it and against all odds and saves the day.

Co-starring Maggie Gyllenhaal, Garcelle Beauvais, Jason Clarke, Richard Jenkins, James Woods, Lance Reddick and Rachelle Lefevre (a vampire in the first two “Twilight” films) as Tatum’s ex-wife, the first bit of set footage has been revealed by the always-charming host of Entertainment Tonight. It’s not particularly riveting footage per se, but it does show how Tatum basically has to single-handedly protect the POTUS. And if you’re super looking forward to this action thriller, you could do a lot worse.

“White House Down” opens Junes 28th, 2013, and it sounds like Tatum will take his shirt off at some point. Duh.

Oh man, this is a cool concept, and it's kinda perfect for Roland Emmerich. Expecting a dumb, but endearing buddy action movie.

Looks like a really expensive MTV Movie Awards skit.

Actually not. He's a secret service agent who was interviewed and denied for a position on White House detail when he gets mixed up in the attack.

A potential death by toaster has raised my anticipation for this movie even higher than it was before. Is Django gonna be wrecking motherfuckers or just wearing a suit the whole time and being all baffled.

i thought his ambition was to be the new Mark Wahlberg but i'm wrong:he wants to be the Will Smith (ambitious, likeable and correct actor when he wants)
