First Poster From Ben Affleck’s ‘Argo,’ New One-Sheet & Image From Jake Gyllenhaal Cop Flick ‘End Of Watch’

First Poster From Ben Affleck's 'Argo,' New One-Sheet & Image From Jake Gyllenhaal Cop Flick 'End Of Watch'

Only a litte earlier, we were talking about “Argo” looking like one of the major Best Picture players of the coming season — and given the enormously positive reviews, we can’t really see how it’ll fail to come to pass. But you wouldn’t know it too much from Warner Bros‘ new poster from the film (just revealed on their Twitter account), which neglects to play up any inspirational, awards-courting parts of the film in favor of… something from a more generic thriller. Ok, so there’s a nice 70s quality to the one-sheet, we suppose, but it’s not wildly memorable. Still, it could have been worse, and it’s always good to see the dude from “Sound Of My Voice” on a poster for an Oscar contender.  [Warner Bros]

More imminent, and unlikely to be heading for the Oscars, despite a few enthusiastic critical notices, is “End Of Watch,” the new film from “Training Day” writer David Ayer, and takes a visceral, found-footage approach to the kind of LAPD cop movie with which he made his name. The film toplines Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena, and the pair are front and center on both a new international poster, and a new image from the movie. Our TIFF reviewer wasn’t especially enamored of the film, but it’s had a few good reviews, so we’re happy to give it a try, motion sickness be damned. [Recent Movie Posters/AMC Theaters]

Ben Affleck did a spectacular job directing on Argo 2012, which pretty faithfully follows such an unbelievable story. Every actor is convincing as his/her character and the cast was impeccably chosen. Make sure you stay in the theater to watch the credits. You'll see some real photographs and clips that mirror Affleck's film and actors.

Was waiting for Argo's poster. But this one is not the sheet on tiff's press conference.
