While the New York Television Festival, running from October 22-27 this year, was created to provide a platform for independent television to be seen and potentially picked up by the networks, the event has also made room for some established TV franchises. For the opening-night event of the eighth annual fest, the CW will present the world premiere of its new series “The Carrie Diaries,” based on Candace Bushnell’s novels of the same name about a high school-aged Carrie Bradshaw (played by AnnaSophia Robb) pre-“Sex and the City.” Also on tap are a look at political comedy with the head writers of “The Daily Show,” Letterman, Fallon and other late-night hosts and a goodbye to “Jersey Shore” featuring the show’s cast, its creator and MTV executives.
Here are more highlights from the 2012 NYTVF schedule (descriptions courtesy of the festival — the full schedule’s available here). Info about tickets to these events is available here — and check out the festival’s Independent Pilot Competition line-up.
