Watch: Chilling First Footage From Park Chan-Wook’s ‘Stoker’ Starring Nicole Kidman & Mia Wasikowska

Watch: Chilling First Footage From Park Chan-Wook's 'Stoker' Starring Nicole Kidman & Mia Wasikowska

After an almost unbearably long wait, with cameras first rolling a year ago, we now have our first footage from "Oldboy" director Park Chan-wook's English-language debut "Stoker," and yes, it looks pretty damn great.

Evoking a really old school sense of atmosphere and dread, the tone seems appropriate considering the Wentworth Miller-penned script has been described as a fantastical, fairy tale-like family drama that follows the story of an eccentric teen, India (Mia Wasikowska), whose enigmatic and estranged uncle (Matthew Goode) returns to the family after the death of the girl’s father. People, however, start to go missing in her hometown at the same time and she soon discovers that her uncle may be the cause. Nicole Kidman is along for the ride as India's mother, and it looks like she's delivering yet another first rate performance. Toss in a supporting cast featuring Alden Ehrenreich, Jacki Weaver, Dermot Mulroney and Lucas Till, along with a score by Clint Mansell, and it's almost a crime that we have to wait until next year to see the whole thing.

For now, this brief tease on "Entertainment Tonight" (via The Film Stage) will have to do, and we are loving what we're seeing so far. It looks like Park's distinctive visual eye is very much in place, albeit within a movie that looks to be seeing him try out some new, almost Hitchcock-ian territory. "Stoker" lands on March 1, 2013 with a trailer arriving next week. For now, watch below.

A coincidence?
Speaking of the screen writer of the film…
This caption in this Went's Korean commercial is so ……:
"Watch out ! Watch out !
The real face of a lethal seduction is being exposed!"

Did Park direct this commercial, too? ;-P

Park Chan Wook is a genius so I'm hoping that this isn't going to be just another Nicole Kidman flop.

I like the nod to Shadow of a Doubt with the Uncle Charlie name. The plot description does sound similar too but it looks like this is going in different (and probably darker) direction.

People can push the hell out of Nicole Kidman in this movie all they want but Mia is the only reason I'm buying a ticket. This is her movie, not Nicole's.

This looks really well recorded! That cinematography is exquisite! Also, the whole cast seem in top form. Shame they didn't show a part with Jacki Weaver, Oh well, It's ET who we are talking about, I bet they don't even know who she is. The proper trailer arrives next week.

Why does this director get any buzz? Oldboy was decent at best and this looks extremely silly. Kidman looks way over the top.

Looks great. Kidman and Mia look outstanding. But, Matthew Goode looks like he may steal this movie. In my opinion.

Wow. Kidman looks really good. After all those flops, this might be her best films in years.

Yep, it really looks like Park's camera is at work here (Follow shot, depth of field and that profile/close-up of Wasikowska !!) which is just fine. I'm curious about the story though and if it will still have that twisted humor Park usually have. Let's hope for a longer trailer … without that horrendous voice over from ET !

World Premiere at Berlin Film Festival? I hope so…

Looks great. And Kidman appears to steal the show, she looks very intense.
