“We’ve long admired Jan Troell’s work, and it’s a special privilege to release his 25th film,” said Music Box managing director Edward Arentz. “‘The Last Sentence’ struck us as nothing short of a masterpiece by a filmmaker working at the top of his form.”
Originally titled “Truth & Consequence,” “The Last Sentence” tells the story of crusading Swedish journalist Torgny Segerstedt, who fought against Hitler and the Nazi regime until his death in 1945. Jesper Christensen and Pernilla August star in the film, which is currently screening at the Busan International Film Festival.
Francy Suntinger produced for Filmlance with the support of the Swedish Film Institute.
Music Box Films has recently released “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” “The Deep Blue Sea” and “Monsieur Lazhar.”
