Oscar Talk: Supporting Actor, 'Not Fade Away,' Biopics and Small Contenders

This week on Oscar Talk, In Contention’s Kris Tapley and I dig into the supporting actor category and the list of small films vying for some awards attention.

We both find much to admire in David Chase’s debut film, “Not Fade Away,” which boasts a great roots rock soundtrack wrangled by Steve Van Zandt, but might not score any nominations. His “The Sopranos” co-star James Gandolfini has a shot at one, but he’s also in two other films, “Killing Them Softly” and “Zero Dark Thirty.”

We also answer a reader question about the long and the short of biopics–from “Lincoln” to “My Week with Marilyn” and “Hitchcock.”
