After distributing Martin Scorsese's most recent run of films, Paramount–whose chairman Brad Grey produced "The Departed"–will continue their relationship with the director by releasing his financial drama, "The Wolf of Wall Street," starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Paramount distributed Scorsese and DiCaprio's "Shutter Island," which grossed almost $300 million at the global box office in 2010, as well as last year's lauded holiday success d'estime "Hugo," which earned just $155 million worldwide–but took home five Oscars.
Jean Dujardin, Jonah Hill, Matthew McConaughey, Rob Reiner, Christine Ebersole, Margot Robbie, and Kyle Chandler accompany DiCaprio onscreen in "Wolf." "Boardwalk Empire" creator Terence Winter adapted the film from Jordan Belfort's memoir about his auspicious rise and fall in the financial world.
Paramount plans a late 2013 release for the film, which is currently shooting in New York City.
