Call it Barbershop, unscripted. This looks good. I’d like to check it out!
Titled, simply, The Fade, the feature-length documentary is described as an intimate portrait of four black barbers from different parts of the world (Ghana, Jamaica, the USA, and the UK), followed over the course of seven days.
That should be enough to make you even slightly curious – the potential to closely observe these African lives from 4 different location points of view, spanning 3 continents.
The observational documentary is said to reveal exactly what this profession means to their individual societeis in the 21st century, interweaving their stories and examining the differences between of the locations.
The film is produced and directed by Brit Andy Mundy-Castle, and will screen at the Austin Film Festival twice this weekend; so if you’re in the area, you can check it out. Click HERE for specific time, location and ticket info.
The filmmaker will be in attendance.
