With their big (if often alarmingly general) ideas and their relentless, tech-driven optimist, the TED Talks are just asking for a skewering. And really, who better to do it than the folks at The Onion, with their deadly talents at matching tone and subject matter while mocking?
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Onion Digital Studios (who were also responsible for the reality show spoofing online series “Sex House”) will be launching a new series called “Onion Talks” on YouTube on Wednesday, October 17.
“The most important ideas from the greatest thinkers on the planet. No mind will be left unchanged,” the teaser below promises. We’re more intrigued by the promise of a lecture on “What is the biggest rock?” The overblown and self-congratulatory tendencies of the TED Talks offer a lot of material for potential comedy.
