Uma Thurman has become the latest bold-faced name to join the cast of Lars von Trier's erotic epic "Nymphomaniac," a two-part drama currently shooting in Germany, and scheduled for 2013 release in both soft and hardcore versions. The actress takes her place alongside Charlotte Gainsbourg, Stellan Skarsgard and, most recently, Shia LaBeouf, whose averred willingness to take on-screen action to the extreme inspired more than a few giggles in the blogosphere this summer.
In an unlikely plot that seems lifted from the fictional film "Rochelle, Rochelle," of Seinfeld fame, "Nymphomaniac" centers on the retelling by Gainsbourg's Jo of her pornographic adventures to an aged bachelor (Skarsgard), who, after encountering the young woman discarded and badly bruised in an alley one night, resolves to nurse her back to health.
How explicitly Thurman's as-yet-unannounced character will figure in Jo's strange erotic journey remains to be seen, but the Oscar-nominated actress has so far failed to echo LaBeouf's inclination to go all the way.
Jamie Bell, Stacy Martin, Connie Nielsen and Christian Slater will also appear in "Nymphomaniac."
