Pixar employee Timothy Hahn and Brooklyn-based director Keith Boynton created an animated music video for Darlingside's song "The Ancestor." Despite being only a few minutes long, the visually stunning short/music video manages to chart one man's journey from death into the afterlife and beyond – exploring ideas of love, loss and rebirth. The song and the video mutually benefit one another; while the Darlingside song's sound and lyrics bring life to Hahn and Boynton's creation, the picture that the video paints allows the underlying themes of the song to shine.
Hahn, who produced the video, is now able to tack "The Ancestor" onto his list of credits, which includes working as script coordinator on "Small Fry," a "Toy Story" short, and as production coordinator on "Air Mater," a "Cars" short, both in 2011. Hahn also worked on the Pixar shorts "Time Travel Mater" and "Partysaurus Rex," and he co-produced the 2012 animated short "Cadaver," starring Christopher Lloyd and Kathy Bates. "Cadaver" was named the #1 U.S. animated film by audiences at Palm Springs International ShortFest.
"The Ancestor" was released on Vimeo yesterday, and has just been named a Vimeo Staff Pick.
