Women Nominees at the 2012 IDA Documentary Awards

The International Documentary Association announced their nominees for their 2012 IDA Documentary Awards. It’s really exciting to note that 4 of the 5 shorts are directed by women as well as 2 of the 5 features (and one of the other features nominated is The Invisible War).

And in the Humanitas category, which honors a documentary filmmaker whose work strives to explore cultural differences, one women directed feature was nominated out of five.

The awards will take place on December 7th in Los Angeles.

Here are the women directed nominees:

The Central Park Five – Co-Directed by Sarah Burns, Ken Burns and David McMahon

Queen of Versailles – Directed by Lauren Greenfield

God is the Bigger Elvis – Directed by Rebecca Cammisa

Mondays at Racine – Directed by Cynthia Wade

Saving Face – Co-directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Daniel Junge
