The 28th Santa Barbara International Film Festival (January 24 – February 3) will honor Jennifer Lawrence with its Outstanding Performer of the Year Award on February 2. The fest's myriad high-profile tributes typically act as Oscar pushes for likely contenders; Lawrence is considered a frontrunner for Best Actress for David O. Russell's "Silver Linings Playbook."
It's been a big year for Lawrence, who headed the first installment of the thus far uber-successful "The Hunger Games" franchise back in March. (The film's total domestic box office haul was slightly over $408 million.) She's been receiving accolades for her performance as depressive yet dance-happy Tiffany in "Silver Linings" since the film's glowingly received debut at TIFF in September.
Lawrence received a Best Actress Oscar nod for "Winter's Bone" in 2010.
Past recipients of the SBIFF Outstanding Performer award include Viola Davis, James Franco, Colin Firth and Helen Mirren.
