Check out the new trailer for Bryan Singer's "Jack the Giant Slayer," which stars Ewan McGregor, Nicholas Hoult, Stanley Tucci and Eleanor Tomlinson. It's the latest entry on Hollywood's ever-growing beanstalk of fairytale reinventions.
When a princess (Tomlinson) is whisked away to captivity in a giants' world in the sky, farmer Jack (Hoult) along with soldier Elmont (McGregor) decide to rescue her. CG beanstalk growing and twisting abounds, with a majestic land of giants seemingly indebted to the visuals of "The Hobbit." It doesn't resemble the quasi-feminism of "Snow White and the Huntsman"; just old-fashioned damsels in distress and the motley men who rescue them.
This is Singer's first big-screen film since 2008's "Valkyrie." He'll also be returning to the "X-Men" franchise he began over a decade ago with 2014's "X-Men: Days of Future Past."
McGregor, meanwhile, can be seen struggling against disasters of the natural variety in the upcoming "The Impossible" (December 21).
"Jack the Giant Slayer" hits theaters March 1.
