Watch: Melissa McCarthy & Sandra Bullock Feel 'The Heat' In Trailer For New Comedy From 'Bridesmaids' Director Paul Feig

What happens when a fussy, by-the-books FBI agent teams up with a street-wise, rule-bending Boston cop? Hilarity, we suppose, but you can see for yourself as the first trailer for “Bridesmaids” director Paul Feig‘s “The Heat” is here.

Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy team up as the unlikely duo in what otherwise looks like your standard buddy cop comedy. Casually amusing, the story will apparently find them trying to bring down a drug lord, but of course, they get into various hijinks along with the way which includes a joke about Spanx. Perhaps not as irreverant as we were expecting, maybe a bawdier trailer will give a better sense of the tone (and to be fair, trailers for “Bridesmaids” didn’t exactly get that movie right either).

Watch below and tell us what you think. “The Heat” goes on duty on April 5, 2013, and the tune in the trailer is M.I.A.‘s “Bad Girls.” Obviously.

I'm glad Sandra is about to do something that's not so cookie cutter. She's always playing it safe and now we get to see her spread her wings, so to speak. Not that there is anything virtuous about her be bout of whatever it is thats got her kickin BUT I'm glad she's getting movement in her career. Despite whether she's in it for money or a great body of work to be proud. And given the fact that she is an Awesome Single Mom she probably has to keep things practical and invest in choices that make bank. Just sayin. Love her!

The two ladies belong to the Academy Awards circle, so this female slacker got some background. Bullock's picking scripts taste and her acting skill maybe depend on her mood. The supporting roles are awesome, even Demian Bichir in this.

First of all, Sandra Bullock didn't deserve her Oscar win ( I will never forget the bewildered look on Helen Mirren's face when Sandra won) , but after winning the Oscar, she chose to do crap like this. Even after winning the gold, this poor lady still cannot tell the difference between good & bad scripts. What a shame, Sandra is all about the money, and she doesn't want to create a body of work she can be proud of.

I dig. I like the pair, Sandra B is good in comedies. Give us a change from the standard male buddy cop flicks.

So basically what we're lookin' at here is "Freebie and the Bean" with a bit more vaginal jelly swathed over it? OK.
