On this week's Oscar Talk podcast, Kris Tapley and I assess the impact of the New York Film Critic Circle and National Board of Review results. We also look at where "Django Unchained" and "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey," are likely to land in the Oscar race. And we agree that with the new documentary rules, the Academy doc branch did a good job with their shortlist of 15. We pick likely frontrunners.

It’s interesting that some people see Lincoln as the frontrunner. In a way it makes sense, though. As the Academy has chosen the good-feel movie the last two years (King’s Speech, the Artist), it only seems natural if they want to pick a more serious candidate this year.
