USA Network Will Air 2-Hour Pilot Of Defunct ‘Over/Under’ After All (Giancarlo Esposito Co-Stars)

USA Network Will Air 2-Hour Pilot Of Defunct 'Over/Under' After All (Giancarlo Esposito Co-Stars)

In March, earlier this year, USA Network announed that they would not be moving forward with a new series, titled Over/Under, and shelved the pilot episode, despite that fact that it reportedly have strong supporters at USA, but was ultimately done over by others who didn't care for its "darker tones."

However, many months later, it looks like the pilot episode, which had been shot already, and is essentially a 2-hour movie, will air on the network, if a tweet from Ted Linhart, USA network's SVP of Research, is correct.

Linhart posted an update on Twitter, on Friday, responding to a question asked by a follower, about whether the pilot would ever air. He replied stating that the 2-hour pilot for Over/Under will air on Friday, January 4th, at 10pm.

S&A fave actor Giancarlo Esposito was a member of the drama's regular starring cast, in a series that was to center on a man named about Paul (played by Steve, Pasquale), a Manhattan day trader whose massive gambling problem costs him his job, forcing he and his photographer wife Vicky (Caroline Dhavernas) to relocate to Brooklyn. There Paul finds an unlikely partner in father-to-be Marino (Anthony Carrigan), with whom he starts a high-end bookie business.

Giancarlo Esposito starred as Oliver, an artist who once taught Vicky and maintains a special fondness for his former student.

Bronwen Hughes directed the pilot from a script by Sheila Callaghan.

So, mark your calendars, if you're curious. And once a trailer for this surfaces, assuming one does, we'll share it here.

Just watched the movie, and surprised it was not carried into a series. Yes some dark tones, but it only added a gritty reality to the story.

I like the concept. Strange choice by USA. They're usually aces with shows about morally ambiguous yet lovable protagonists. Perhaps they'll air the pilot, see if gets any traction with viewers and critics then reconsider. Or not.
