Two-time Oscar winner Barbra Streisand will perform at the Academy Awards on February 24. Streisand has performed only once before at the ceremony, 36 years ago in 1977, when she performed the love theme from "A Star is Born" and won the Best Original Song Oscar for "Evergreen" on the the same night.
Producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron stated: "In an evening that celebrates the artistry of movies and music, how could the telecast be complete without Barbra Streisand?”
The musical dint to the evening was preordained — Zadan and Meron's Storyline Entertainment have long produced successful movie musicals, from 2002's "Chicago" to 2007's "Hairspray." Other performances already announced include Adele, who will perform "Skyfall" live for the first time ever; Norah Jones, who will perform "Everybody Needs a Best Friend" from "Ted"; and a tribute to movie musicals of the past ten years, showcasing "Chicago," "Dream Girls" and "Les Miserables."
