"Banshee," the new action series created by novelists Jonathan Tropper and David Schickler and executive produced by Alan Ball (of "True Blood" and "Six Feet Under"), is currently in the middle of its first season on Cinemax. It's apparently going so well that the premium network today renewed the drama for a second season.
"Banshee" stars Antony Starr ("Rush") as Lucas Hood, an ex-con and master thief who take on the identity of the sheriff of Banshee, PA while being hunted by gangster seeking revenge for his betrayal years before. Joining him in the cast for the first 10-episode season are Ivana Milicevic, Ulrich Thomsen ("The Celebration"), Frankie Faison ("The Wire"), Hoon Lee ("Premium Rush"), Rus Blackwell, Matt Servitto, Demetrius Grosse, Trieste Kelly Dunn ("Cold Weather"), Ryann Shane, Daniel Ross Owens, Lili Simmons ("Fat Kid Rules the World") and Ben Cross ("Star Trek").
The second season of "Banshee" will air in 2014, with writers John Romano ("Monk"), Evan Dunsky ("Two and a Half Men"), and Doug Jung ("Big Love") joining Schickler and Tropper.
