Watch: Don't Eat The Candy In 2 Clips From 'Hansel And Gretel Witch Hunters'

It’s coming on five years since “The Hurt Locker,” and whether or not Jeremy Renner has truly ascended the way some might have predicted is debatable. Yes, he was great in “The Town” but since then he’s logged a throwaway role in “Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol,” played a brainwashed zombie for half of “The Avengers,” and while it was successful, there doesn’t seem to be much clamoring for Aaron Cross to return after “The Bourne Legacy.” So what’s next for Renner? Uh, this

Two clips have landed for “Hansel And Gretel Witch Hunters,” which seems to be in every way, shape and form a “January Release.” A rebooted/reimagined take on the fairy tale, he co-stars with Gemma Arterton as witch huntin’ siblings, tracking down evil in the woods or whatever. These two glimpses at the movie aren’t exactly thrilling, and the movie certainly won’t be a career booster for either actor. But here’s hoping David O. Russell can find new muscles for Renner to work with in the upcoming movie he’ll be doing with Christian Bale, Amy Adams and Bradley Cooper.

i like jeremy renner and i really liked 'the bourne legacy.' this film, however, looks embarrassing.

looks fucking baaaad.

Looks abysmal. Fire everyone.

Renner… he's so hot right now!

Right, Renner is doing horrible for himself. He has since (Hurt Locker) gotten nominated for an Oscar and been part of three highly successful franchises that all have sequels coming out. As for Bourne not continuing with him in it, of course there will at least be a crossover with Damon. Whether we keep getting sequels with just Renner is irrelevant because no one watches (for ex.) James Bond to learn about 005, Who cares if there "never was just 1," we want the original.

As for this, yeah it'll probably suck. Lets see if he can draw the box-office. This movie, after-all, was supposed to be released almost a year ago.

Hype around an actor is generally a product of the media, with every star built up, an opportunity for dragging him down in the future. Jeremy Renner is a working actor who has made good and bad films in the past and will, no doubt, continue to do so. What he has achieved this year is finding new fans, many of whom will follow him into the idependent film world. I have seen more independent films this year than I have in the last 10 years and my most anticipated films are now a James Gray and a David O'Russell – not a bad result when I only went to see the Avengers because it was raining.
