Cast Of TLC Biopic Will Lip-Synch To Group’s Original Music

Cast Of TLC Biopic Will Lip-Synch To Group's Original Music

“I’m not going to be doing any singing. In the beginning I was sad about that. But at the same time I can also understand, because you want to hear the actual music. It was their choice to keep the real music. I respect that. [I’ll be] learning tons of choreography. Luckily their original choreographer will be choreographing us. It’s so cool.”

Keke Palmer in an interview with Essence magazine about being cast as Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas in VH1’s in-development biopic on pop/hip hop/R&B group TLC, which will start shooting next month.

Did anyone really expect that the cast would actually sing TLC’s hit songs? I didn’t.

But obviousy getting the original choreography down is crucial. There’s no way around that – unless they use body doubles.

Drew Sidora and Lil’ Mama are playing Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and the late Lisa Left Eye Lopes, in a tele-pic that Charles Stone III (DrumlinePaid in FullMr. 3000) is set to direct, from a script penned by screenwriter Kate Lanier (What’s Love Got To Do With ItSet it OffBeauty Shop).

That first trailer will tell us a lot.

Quite ironic, since many of the recent articles we've been reading about–the biopics of Black singers–acquiring the music rights has been a problem. Clearly this won't be the case for this movie. I can only guess that the other actress may not have the type of voice that might be able to mimic T-Boz' husky tone successfully.

Of course Keke has to lip synch. She sings better than the original stars :-)

I say this with love. I love TLC, but yeah, they weren't the weren't the strongest singers.

blah, blah

I love TLC to death but Keke Palmer should not have to lip-synch
