Chris Rock & Dave Chappelle Performed Together Last Night. Tour? Also Rock Is Shooting A New Movie

This report from our friends at Vulture:

As reported by the Comic’s Comic, after midnight, unannounced, Dave Chappelle dropped by the Comedy Cellar (which you might know as the club from Louie) and did 45 minutes by himself. Right before he was going to end his set, Chris Rock joined him onstage for an hour. The two riffed about topics like Seth MacFarlane and Jay-Z’s relationship with President Obama. Rock texted Jay-Z at 1:30 a.m., asking if he wanted to get spaghetti. When Jay didn’t respond, they left voice mails for Arsenio Hall and Lenny Kravitz.

Hah! Prep for a comedy tour together perhaps. You’ll recall last October when Chris Rock teased a potential upcoming tour with Dave Chappelle on tour, and that they’d been working on some material together. Maybe last night’s impromptu set was a tryout of that material.

Vulture goes on to add that, after they ended their set last night, the pair discussed a potential tour:

“Come out to Oakland,” Chappelle told Rock.

“You should come down to West Palm,” Rock replied.

Chappelle: “After next Tuesday, I’m free for like 11 years.”

Rock said he has a new movie of his own he’s going to film later this spring, and would be cutting it over the summer. “I’ve got time between now and the movie,”

Rock told Chappelle onstage. “By Halloween, I could do dates.”

So just a little back-and-forth there, teasing some more about a tour. At this point, I’d say that it’s probably going to happen, and will be formally announced sooner than later, so stay tuned.

As for the film that Chris said he’s going to be shooting this spring, I really have no idea what that could be. It’s been a while since we announced any new Chris Rock projects – aside from producing and/or exec producing for others – the late night series with W. Kamau Bell on FX, and a sketch comedy series featuring young comedian and YouTube star, Deshawn Raw for Comedy Central.

The only film project I’m aware that was previously announced is the feature documentary called Credit Is The Devil, which has been on his slate for a couple of years now or more. He’s been talking about since Good Hair was out.

Whatever it is, we’ll find out about it soon enough.

The comedy tour to change the game again….Biggest comedy tour since "Kings of Comedy", and one of very few comedy tours that could outsell "KOC".

If they do tour, you won't be able to get in the door. They will have to book multiple dates in each city. If I have the money, I will be there. The sky is the limit. The only thing that could stop them is their egos, so hopefully they can work all of the top billing issues, money issues, etc. out up front and stick to their agreement throughout the tour.

I do remember now when Chris Rock posted those pics of some meeting late last year on his Who Say? account. I guess that explains that.
Looking forward to seeing what they have in store. We're in desperate need of some comedic social commentary with the madness that is going on in our society these days.

Man this is going to be the comedy show of the year. This is so unpresidented that two comedians of this caliber come together and do a stand up comedy tour. Thank Yoshua that this is finally gonna happen. If they come to Chicago I will be the first to but tickets in a heartbeat. I'm in total shock that this is finally coming true. Forget Kevin Hart and Katt Williams and other black comedians in this generation. These cats keep it real in their material no bullshit.

did anyone secretly shoot this event with their phone and post it online?

I always knew this day would come and it's finally here!

I wish I could've been there to see the greats on stage.

Wow. I would love to have been there for that.
