Full Frame Documentary Film Festival Chosen as Oscar-Qualifying in Documentary Short Category

Full Frame Documentary Film Festival Chosen as Oscar-Qualifying in Documentary Short Category

The Full Frame Documentary Film Festival has been selected as an Academy Award-qualifying festival in the Documentary Short Subject category. This decision follows a recent similar decision by the Producers Guild.

This means that a short documentary film of 40 minutes or less that receives the fest's Jury Award for Best Short will automatically qualify for consideration in the Docuementary Short category of the Oscars, without a standard theatrical run.

The winner of this year's fest, running April 4-7, will qualify for the concurrent season, from September 1, 2012 to August 21, 2013.

Full Frame, celebrating its 16th anniversary, screened many of the nominated films in this year's documentary feature category, including "How to Survive a Plague" and "The Invisible War." "Searching for Sugarman" screened during Full Frame's year-round programming.
