Gory First Look at Eli Roth’s Cannibal Thriller ‘The Green Inferno’

Gory First Look at Eli Roth's Cannibal Thriller 'The Green Inferno'

It’s been six years since we’ve had a slice of horror from director Eli Roth, instead only getting him as a producer on various projects since his 2007 “Hostel: Part 2.” While Roth is making his way to TV (on Netflix) with the anticipated new series “Hemlock Grove,” the gore-loving filmmaker is finally making his directorial return to the big screen not with torture nor a flesh-eating virus, but this time just good ol’ human eating.

The Green Inferno,” co-written by Roth and Guillermo Amoedo, follows a group of New York City students traveling to Peru with means to stage a protest only to end up in the hands of a tribe of cannibals. The first image of “The Green Inferno” has finally hit the web and it’s saturated in blood and terror that is sure to satiate the long-awaited cravings of any Roth fan. The nearly unknown cast includes Lorenza Izzo and Ariel Levy (both in the upcoming “Aftershock,” produced by and starring Roth), Sky Ferreira (“Putty Hill”), Daryl Sabara (“Spy Kids”), and Kirby Bliss Blanton (“Project X”).

The film has yet to get a distributor or a release date.

Another racist movie demonizing Natives but hardly any movies that show the REAL history of whites killing Natives – the biggest holocaust in history.

Max M

Really pumped for this. I love Cabin Fever and the first Hostel

Enough Eli

Another tired schlock fest of jew eli jerking it to shiksas getting brutally murdered. Yawn.

Cannibal Holocaust is THE movie of the 70s cannibal horror genre but The Green Inferno was one of those movies so this is actually a remake. Nothing new under the sun right?

M. Marz

This movie is giving a salute to "Cannibal Holocaust". The director of that film was in "Hostel 2" as the old man that refused to buy the girl with the face cut by the chain-saw. Stop complaining, see the original, and learn to appreciate someone honoring the past as opposed to insulting it!

looks pretty cliche and unoriginal. they're always pretty.. female, skinny and white. jesus get out of the 70s and 80s with this played out crap. Next!

Duder NME

They eat her because she is liberal.

These man-flesh foodies have better hair than she. Maybe they were giving her grooming tips.

Jesus, that image says it all: Pretty white lady terrorized by a gang of brown savages. Is Roth on the GOP payroll or what?

Parca Mortem

Perhaps Roth will just say that he is reviving 70s-80s italian cannibal movies, but here he is (unwittingly) getting into international politics. Why creative a negative image for Peru? Beyond the same objection that Brazilians raised for "Turistas" and Eastern Europeans about "Hostel", there is something suspect about the writer and some of the cast and crew are all from Chile, which is Peru's arch-rival. Chileans have been openly bitter about Peru's recent surge in economy and tourism, and there has been much counter-campaigning between the two countries. I am sure Chileans would be denouncing Roth if he directed a Peruvian-written cannibal film in Easter Island or Viña del Mar.

Wow, lot of hate goin' on here. I'm optimistic about this. Any throwback to '80s cannibal movies is worth a look to me.

gringos chantas

Cannibals in Peru… this guy is a fucking idiot. Stay in the US, it's safer, except the fact you can get butchered at a movie theatre or killed on an University. Much safer.

Please, Eli, stop.

Eli Roth is a reason for any aspiring filmmaker to NEVER GIVE UP, no matter how bad "they" tell one her/his work is.

I think it's Hemlock Grove

I don't know if you guys have heard.
But foreigners are scary!!!

Oh great, another xenophobic horror film from Eli Roth.
