Roadside Attractions Takes 'In a World...' with Sony Worldwide

Triple-threat Lake Bell, who wrote, directed, and starred in "In a World…" which won the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award at Sundance, has sold her movie to Roadside Attractions (U.S.) and Sony Worldwide Acquisitions Group (foreign). Roadside Attractions is planning a summer 2013 release for the film.

"In a World…" stars Bell ("It's Complicated," What Happens in Vegas") as a young female voice coach who inhabits a sexist world. She joins the race against several self-involved male trailer voice-over artists including her own father (Fred Melamed) to land the new trailer of a blockbuster trilogy. Rob Corddry and Ken Marino, two of her co-stars on Adult Swim's "Children's Hospital," also star.

"Lake’s film represents the introduction of a major new comedic voice – a 21st Century Carole Lombard,” said Roadside Co-President Howard Cohen.  “We think audiences around the country are going to love it as much as we and the audiences at Sundance did."

The film was produced by Eddie Vaisman and Mark Roberts of 3311 Productions alongside Jett Steiger and Bell.  Ross Jacobson and Sean O’Grady of 3311 Productions served as executive producers. (Rotten Tomato reviews are here. Indiewire interview with Bell is here.)
