SXSW 2013 Preview: First Trailer For 'Licks' (Man Returns to Oakland Neighborhood After Prison)

A directorial feature debut by Jonathan Singer-Vine, Licks will premiere at this year’s SXSW Film Festival.

A script penned by Singer-Vine and Justin “Hongry” Robinson, Licks revolves around a man named D and his struggles after returning to his Oakland neighborhood after a two-year stint in prison for arm robbery. 

The film stars Stanley “Doe” Hunt as Lil D, Koran Jenkins, John Stallings and Devon Libran.

Director Singer-Vine and Niko Philipides serve as producers.

Official syposis:

LICKS follows the story of a young man, D, as he returns to his Oakland neighborhood after two years served in prison for a robbery gone wrong. In the days after his release, we are taken into D’s world while he navigates the harsh realities that plague his inner city community. His judgment is tested by the insidious influences around him, forcing D to decide what direction to take his life.

If we are not going to wait til we actually watch the film, lets at least wait until we get a response from some critics post SXSW before we start arbitrarily formulating biased and ignorant opinions about it… until then lets try and be cognizant of the fact that SXSW does not accept just any film and is 1 of tha more reputable festivals there is…
