Watch Film Clip From Katherine Nero's Indie Feature 'For The Cause'

We have previously reported on writer/director Katherine Nero's independently-made feature film, For The Cause, which was shot last July in Chicago.

The film, which is currently in the last stages of post-production, deals with "Mirai Scott, a civil rights attorney, who is contacted by her father, Rolly Spencer, a former Black Panther who went underground 30 years ago to escape a murder charge and who urges her to take his case.  Initially, Mirai is hesitant to defend a man she doesn’t know.  However, Mirai’s passion for justice and curiosity about her father take over, and she commits herself wholeheartedly to his defense, despite warnings from her boyfriend, and her mother. However  Mirai’s attempt to win Rolly’s freedom uncovers painful and dangerous secrets from her parents’ past."

Now Ms. Nero has released the first film clip from her film, which is scheduled to start traveling the film festival circuit later this year.

Great plot! Really liking the actor who plays Rolly so far. I was just watching Black Power Mixtape and marveling at the footage of The Panthers, so this was a great clip to cap off the night.
