Denzel Washington Plays A Young Man’s Game In First Trailer For ‘2 Guns’

Denzel Washington Plays A Young Man's Game In First Trailer For '2 Guns'

Last month, Universal upped the release date for Denzel Washington‘s action-comedy 2 Guns, in which he stars alongside Mark Wahlberg.

The film adaptation of Steven Grant’s graphic novel, directed by Baltasar Kormakur (who directed Wahlberg in Contraband) was previously set to open on August 16th, 2013, but has now been moved up 2 weeks, and will instead open on August 2nd, 2013.

That might be a tough weekend for the film, because it’ll be going up against 3 other wide releases (2 of them also inspired by graphic novels, and 1 family film): 300: Rise of An Empire, Red 2, and The Smurfs 2.

Previously, on the 16th, it was going up against Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters and The To-Do List, which I think presented much less competition than the films it’ll be going up against on the 2nd.

But obviously Universal must have its reasons for the date switch, and it may not have anything to do with competition.

Interestingly, in its place, on the 16th, Universal moved Kick-Ass 2 to that date.

2 Guns centers on a DEA agent (Denzel) and an undercover naval intelligence officer (Wahlberg) who unwittingly investigate each other as each steals mob money, but eventually learn that they are actually both being set up by the mob to steal $50 million from the CIA.

Paula Patton co-stars, playing Denzel’s love interest in the movie.

Here’s your first look at the film:

I liked the trailer a lot. I will most likely go and see this…

It's time for some powerful "Black Love" movies. Love and Basketball meet When a Man Loves a Woman. ;)

Paula Patton? I guess having someone age appropriate would be too much like right.

This movie looks terrible and the set up (agents/cop interracial buddy movie) is tired. It's clearly derivative of something Mel Gibson and Danny Glover or worse Bruce Willis and Damon Wayans used to do.
