FX Renews 'Justified' for a Fifth Season

In expected and, really, unsurprising news for anyone watching the enjoyable current season, FX has renewed its Kentucky noir “Justified” for a fifth round, the network announced today at its upfront presentation in New York.

The crime drama, which was developed by Graham Yost and based on Elmore Leonard creation Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant), a U.S. Marshal with an itchy trigger finger attempting to keep order in eastern Kentucky, has found a solid sweet spot between being critically acclaimed and extremely entertaining.

“Justified” has been nominated for seven Emmy Awards, with wins for Margo Martindale’s performance as Mags Bennett and Jeremy Davies’ as Dickie Bennett, and has become one of FX’s signature shows. The ongoing fourth season has dealt with a 30-year-old case involving a dead parachutist, in addition to the usual Harlan intrigues — the season finale, “Ghosts,” airs April 2nd. Check out the network’s promo for the episode below.

This show has excellent actors and the best dialogue in television. Hated to see the demise of some of these interesting characters, some of whom were like charms on a bracelet over the seasons. Boyd and Ava have good chemistry together. They also exhibit loyalty in the storyline that shallow Wynona doesn't portray for Raylan. Really a loss not to have Dickie Bennett anymore…"Am I right or am I damn right?"

I can't believe how good Justified has continued to be since I've been watching it from season one. I work at DISH with several people who now watch this show because I got them hooked to it. Sometimes we get extended lunches, so to kill time I use DISH Anywhere to stream live TV and my DVR recordings to my phone. Even though I'm not at home, I can stream whatever I want to watch. One day I showed my coworkers an episode of Raylan doing his thing on Justified, and they loved it!
