Tina Fey’s Sarah Palin is the impersonation that may have brought down a Vice Presidential candidacy and Fey brought it back with gumption on “Inside the Actor’s Studio.” With a strong background in improv and an exceptional resemblance to the former Alaska Governor, Fey played it perfectly, jumping right into Palin with folksy nonsense and a twinkle in her eye.
The highlights: she referred to James Lipton as Jimmy, proclaimed that if more people owned guns there would be fewer guns in the stores, and said marriage was for people who wore different types of swimsuits. Interesting side note on the Palin/Fey front: it was Lorne Michaels’ doorman who tipped him off to the resemblance.
Lipton is known for asking the actors that he interviews to pose as their most famous character for a round of questions, and Palin was a brilliant choice for Fey. The rest of the interview is also a delight. Fey –who talks about her new movie “Admission” here–discloses her most cherished swear words, gives her opinions on Lean Cuisine and dispenses wisdom.
