Justin Timberlake Takes Starry SNL to Season Ratings High (VIDEO)

The opening monologue of Justin Timberlake’s fifth turn hosting SNL-the season’s highest rated show–started with the premise that the multi-talented charmer was now inducted into the “five-timers club” for people that have hosted the show on five or more occasions (linked below).

The skit begins with Paul Simon strumming a guitar as he welcomes Timberlake into the bar, with Steve Martin looking pleased in a smoking jacket. Dan Aykroyd has a gig as a bartender after only hosting once (he was an original cast member). As the skit continues, Chevy Chase, Martin Short, Candice Bergen, Alec Baldwin, and Tom Hanks all saunter in. While their appearances were enough to induce laughs, the comedy icons continued to kill it throughout the evening.

Key sketch of the night: “It’s a Date.” The skit featured the two gentleman who recorded “Dick in a Box” (Timberlake and Andy Samberg) as well as a reunion of Two Wild and Crazy Guys (Martin and Aykroyd). Watch for yourself–this one is a treat and half.

Had I known that Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, Martin Short and all of these greats were going to be on SNL, I would have made an effort to get out of my shift at DISH. Fortunately, I have my DISH Hopper set to record all the primetime slots from NBC each night of the week. This means that even though I didn't set a timer to record this epic episode of SNL, I still have access to it in my recordings!
