Roland Martin Is Done At CNN

The bleeding under new chief Jeff Zucker’s reign continues…

Last day at @cnn is April 6.

Those were words posted to Twitter today by the ascot-wearing CNN analyst Roland Martin.

Martin reportedly replied to a follower who asked for reasons why, stating:

New boss wants his own peeps.

Although this one really shouldn’t be too much of a surprise. It was about a year ago that Martin was suspended by CNN for his controversial Super Bowl commercial remarks. In response to an underwear ad featuring David Beckham, Martin said on Twitter:

If a dude at your Super Bowl party is hyped about David Beckham’s H&M underwear ad, smack the ish out of him!”

Naturally, GLAAD (the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) didn’t take too kindly to Martin’s tweet, and responded on its website, stating:

Martin’s tweets today advocating violence against gay people weren’t an accident — they are a part of a larger pattern for Martin. Anti-gay violence in America is a serious problem.

And due to the controversy that followed, Martin was reportedly suspended by CNN for about a month.

A funny response to Martin’s tweet, if I’d thought of it at the time, would’ve been:

If a dude at your Super Bowl party is wearing an ascot, smack the ish out of him!

Anyway, Martin joins Sergio’s favorite person in the whole world, Soledad O’Brien, as ex-CNN check cashers; although O’Brien did launch a production company that would produce feature documentaries for CNN.

But I’m sure Martin will be just fine without CNN.

Yo, Tambay, why did Roland Martin get axed? Is it the haircut? "No Carey". Is it the shoes? "No Carey". Is it Roland's bulging neck screaming for parole from the mascot?… "No CareyCarey"… Tambay, it's gotta be the mascot? You sure it's not the mascot?." No Carey, it's not the mascot.

Lions and Tigers and Bears… OH MY, but it's gotta be the mascot… or racism, right?

Nope, not so fast, slow your roll and back-up the train. I seem to remember two prominent intellectual black guys calling for the head of a black man, Barack Obama. Who can forget the Cornel West and Travis Smiley "show". They called for the firing of the *cough*HNIC*cough*. Are they bigots, racists and Zionist pigs?

More importantly, I just can't wrap my arms around the popular "crying wolf" syndrome. It seldom, if ever, produces any succulent morsels of "victory". I didn't see it rain dollars or jobs when gator-mouth Steve Harvey claimed Hollywood was more racist than America.

Granted, he has shown the signs of a pulpit pimp, so he might not be the best source of reference. But heck, in 2011 Steve McQueen shared his thoughts on Hollywood Directors not hiring Black Actors, so what changed? OH, that's right, the next year a "black Oscar" wipe-out hit our shores. And recently, as Tambay mentioned, Sergio's favorite person in the whole world, Soledad O'Brien, was sent to the gallows. And? And what, that was racism, or was it? Many said the buck should stop right there but, I don't think I agree.

I think the moral to this issue can be found in the fairy tale Three Little Pigs. See, the big bad wolf **insert some black folks** huffed and puffed in an effort to dethrone the three little pigs. Well, in short, all his effort failed. But then, not to be outdone, he came up with a brilliant plan. Finally, he resolves to come down the chimney, whereupon the clever pigs catch the wolf in a cauldron of boiling water. The pigs slam the lid, and cook and eat the wolf.

So huffing and puffing and crying wolf might not be the best way to go?

The Cornel West and Travis Smiley "show". They called for the firing of a black man, Barack Obama.

I always liked Roland, don't know– just thought he kept it real and was a super good sport (even though he crosses the line). And this isn't to say that they won't be bringing in another AA gent to take Martin's place (though, to be honest, odds are against it), so maybe we shouldn't just leap to that assumption.

I will have to say, I have met a lot of Republicans who "like" Martin, and I've always reasoned that it's just easy for white people to put a flamboyant guy like Martin in a box. He does have that al-sharpton-like gait in his speech, and we've all mentioned the ascots… he is obviously a smart and articulate man, but his approach to debate is really showy…

I don't understand why the 'ratings' say people aren't watching CNN, Get rid of Soledad!? Why!? Like who doesn't watch CNN!? This new CNN seems like he's gonna do damage to CNN and it's going to be hard to recover from.

Where the hell is his neck? Fat head. lol

He got dumped because those ridiculous mascots.

Roland's just eh, okay. He's not Michael Eric Dyson, by any stretch of the imagination. Not even Juan Williams. More like Al Sharpton. I won't miss him, but I wish they'd bring on a black academic that is sharp to replace him. …Or, ask TJ Holmes back, since, apparently, his show has been canceled at BET, yet BET has yet to acknowledge such. …Oh, and don't worry they won't get rid of Lemon and Whitfield, because no one WANTS to work weekends at a news network. Nothing happens on the weekends, and all those two do is re-hash the news of the week (with an occasional interesting interview or subject focused on blacks. Like last week Lemon discussed how blacks who go missing aren't covered in the mainstream as much as whites). …AND, we're coming into spring in summer, with more people staying and playing outside longer. No, their jobs are safe. Weeknights and weekdays are the prime real estate for newsies. …And, I agree, Thurston Martin the third's ascot is a bit much.

Well that's Jewish/Zionism for your ass. They are in full fledged control at CNN. The next thing you know they are going to fire Don Lemon, Fredricka Whitfield, and a very little of countless other black anchors. They have been taking over for quite awhile at the network. This isn't anything that is new. I'm not sounding Anti-Semetic or anything of that nature but this is the complete truth that it hurts. It is now coming to the landscape for all to see. They are never friends to us as a people. History completely explains this all.

He won't be missed. I find him insufferable at best, and the ascots are nauseating. I snickered when you made note of them as well!
