Trailer For Civil War-Set Bounty Hunter Drama 'The Retrieval'

Making its world premiere at this year’s SXSW film festival this month is the Civil War drama The Retrieval (adding it to our list of “slavery/Civil War” films list – see Tambay’s post from earlier this month HERE).

Helmed by Chris Eska, nominated for two Independent Spirit Awards (and winner of the Cassavetes Award) for his feature film August Evening, The Retrieval stars newcomers (mostly) Ashton Sanders, Tishuan Scott, Keston John, Bill Oberst, Jr., Christine Horn, and others.

Jason Wehling and Jacob Esquivel produce.

All we have for a synopsis is:

On the outskirts of the Civil War, a boy is sent north by a bounty hunter gang to retrieve a wanted man.

A very intriguing premise and interesting first poster, see the latter below; certainly eager to find out much more. We will definitely follow this film closely.

A trailer (although more like a clip) from the film has surfaced and is embedded below:

Bill Oberst Jr.

Thank you for posting re Chris Eska's "The Retrieval." As a cast member (I am the reprehensible gentleman speaking in the clip) I can tell you that this script was something special – it had particular resonance with me as a native southerner. I'm proud to have been a part of the project and will be proud to be in the audience when it premieres at SXSW next week. Chris is quite an amazing storyteller.

best regards,
Bill Oberst Jr.
