TV Casting News: Harold Perrineau, Tone Bell, Eric Andre All Book Pilot Roles...

I haven’t done thorough research, but I’d say that, given the number of pilot casting announcements we’ve posted in the last couple of weeks or so, there seem to be a lot more black actors getting jobs than there were during pilot casting season last year.

I’ll do some further digging, and report back with hard stats.

In the meantime, here’s more casting news…

First, Harold Perrineau has landed a co-starring role on NBC’s Family Guide from writer/producer DJ Nash, directed by David Schwimmer and exec produced by Jason Bateman.

The project follows a son who idolizes his blind father and is bemused by his mother’s newfound adolescence, and who watches his family come closer together post-divorce.

Perrineau will plays the manager of the mother’s apartment building who befriends her son.

Eli Baker, J.K. Simmons and Parker Posey play the son, father and mother respectively.

Second, Tone Bell has been cast in Fox’s comedy pilot To My Future Assistant. Written by Sherry Bilsing-Graham & Ellen Kreamer and directed by Peyton Reed, the project follows the assistants at a big New York City law firm who come together as a family to help each other cope with their obnoxious overbearing bosses.

Bell will play Davis, described as a confident, Harvard-educated attorney who has just joined the firm. It’ll be a series regular role.

And third, Eric Andre has booked a lead role in NBC’s untitled Robert Padnick/Greg Daniels comedy pilot, to be directed by Kyle Newacheck.

The project will examine the ups and downs of dating in your twenties, and will follow the romantic entanglements of four big-city young folks (Andre plays one of them).

Mr Andre will play Teddy, described as crass and unfiltered.

That’s it for now, but I’m sure there’ll be more casting announcements coming…
