Usher Helps 'The Voice' To Rating Highs, While 'American Idol' Sinks Even Lower

The decision to replace the departed gremlin known as Cee-Lo Green with Usher, and Christina Aguilera with Shakria on NBC’s The Voice, seems to have been a smart move for the show.

The season premiere of the show pulled in 13.4 million viewers, which is an increase of 12% from last year’s season premiere.

However, things are getting worse for American Idol. You recall that last month I reported that the show had an all time ratings and viewership low since the show’s premiere, HERE.

Well it turns out that I spoke too soon.

Last week, the show was watched by 11.3 million viewers, which is the lowest number of viewers ever. Even lower than the 13.1 million which was the previous all time low a month ago.

To date AI’s viewership has dropped a whopping 33.8% since this season’s opener. I guess having Nicki Minaj as a judge was a good idea for them after all wasn’t it?

How much do you want to bet that she won’t be asked back next season? And I would say, odds are 50/50 right now on Mariah Carey too.

Dont give up your day job, i fell asleep three times whilst reading this article, and it wasn't a case of narcolepsy.

As long as NICKI MINAJ is on American Idol, I hope their ratings continue to sink…

Nicki will be back. Critics say she's the best thing about the show, and the only one who actually cares. And why place all the blame on her. There are four judges on the show. The success or fail of AI doesn't rest on her shoulders.

I think someone needs to create a reality show to help aspiring screenwriters make their dreams come true. Instead of limiting it to one winner, maybe a total of 3-5. I would most definitely audition, or pitch or whatever…. Just a thought, and somewhat off subject.

"The Voice" was worth it for Judith Hill's performance alone. That lady is a superstar.
