“Burning Love,” the Yahoo web series spoof of “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette,” has built itself up into a multiplatform franchise, having successfully completed two seasons in which first fireman Mark Orlando (Ken Marino) and then unsuccessful contestant turned star Julie (June Diane Raphael) searched for the love in the best way possible — on television.
The web series made the leap onto TV itself when E! started airing the first season in February. The stars include many of funniest people working in stand-up or film and TV today — Michael Ian Black, Ken Jeong, Natasha Leggero, Paul Scheer, Kristen Bell, Michael Cera, Kumail Nanjiani and more, many of whom helped promote the series at SXSW this year in a series of live events.
The trailer for the new season, “Burning Down the House,” below, reveals that the third incarnation of “Burning Love” will be a “Bachelor Pad”-style competition bringing back many of the competitors from the two previous rounds, including Marino and Raphael, as well as Black’s host. ABC recently canceled “Bachelor Pad,” so this is either terrible or terrific timing for “Burning Love.” Season three starts April 12th.
