Zoe Kravitz Books Role In Lionsgate's Adaptation Of 'Divergent'

Zoe Kravitz has signed up to co-star in Divergent, Summit/Lionsgate’s adaptation of Veronica Roth’s YA novel of the same name.

Kravitz joins Maggie Q, Ansel Elgort and Shailene Woodley in a project that’s set in a future dystopia divided into different groups based on human traits. Woodley stars as Tris, a teenager who wants to break free from her homogeneous society, leaves her faction and joins a rival group, where she falls for a young man.

Neil Burger (Limitless) is directing.

Kravitz will play Christina, a member of the Dauntless faction, which embodies bravery, and who becomes friends with Tris.

Comparisons are being made to another Lionsgate property, The Hunger Games.

Douglas Wick, Lucy Fisher and Pouya Shahbazian are producing, with shooting set for Chicago this spring.

Up next for Ms Kravitz is After Earth – directed by M. Night Shyamalan and starring Will and Jaden Smith.

Well not particularly happy with this choice but at least they didn't cast a white actress.

ugh

i just don't find her attractive at all.

Zoe is not a good actress. Mediocre at best, and yes I have seen projects she has been in and was disappointed with her lack luster performances each time. The only reason this girl is getting to work so much is because of who her parents are, otherwise she would be like every other struggling black or mixed actress trying to catch a break. Shameful.

Donella

Haven't read the book so I'm not familiar with the character description, but Zoe has two Black parents. Also, I'm glad to see her making strategic choices with her acting career.

Geneva Girl

I read the book. Meh. I had pictured Christina differently, with dark skin and very strong, but, Zoe will suffice.

REALLY

IN THE BOOK THE CHARACTER IS A DARK SKINNED AFRICAN AMERICAN GIRL. ZOE IS LIKE 1/4 BLACK THIS IS AWFUL CASTING. NOT SEEING THIS MOVIE.
