The father of a bombing suspect has contacted an ABC News correspondent in New York on three occasions since the story broke.
Bianna Golodryga tweeted earlier: “Just spoke w Dzhokhar’s father Anzor for 2nd time. Says sons are innocent. ‘If they kill Dzhokhar, then I’m convinced he’s framed by cops'”
At about 1:30 p.m., Eastern, on Friday, Golodryga said on ABC that he had called a third time, sounding very tired. The reporter spoke with the father in Russian.
Apparently, Golodryga indicated, the father hadn’t talked with Russian or American law-enforcement authorities to that point.
TV networks are reporting that an uncle of the suspect, speaking at an impromptu news conference, called him and his older brother, who was killed in a shootout overnight, “losers.” The uncle, speaking with great bursts of emotions, said he very saddened that the two had brought such shame to his family.
He is the brother of the father of the two bombing suspects. “He spent his life bringing food to their table,” he said of his brother.
“Of course, we’re ashamed,” the uncle told reporters. “I love this country.”
