Another day, another web series. But when you think about it, we don’t see that many from the U.K. But here’s a new one, just premiering – In The Deep.
The series was created and written by Joseph Adesunloye and Joy Gharoro-Akpojotor. The
first episode was directed by Adesunloye and Vins Blake, with Canadian
director Sarah Warren attached to direct later episodes in the series.
According to the creators, In the Deep deals with “four fun-loving friends” living in London’s East End, “each harboring secrets of their own.”.
But creators describe their series as “not just another queer web series,” revealing, in regards to the characters, that:
“Ade is stuck between two worlds, British/Nigerian and
gay. He lives a double life, hiding his relationships on both ends; Emilia has the
confusing ‘thing’ with Riley, her straight best friend who also has a
boyfriend. Wesley is struggling to decide whether to
fight for love or let someone else sweep him off his feet. Rene realizes that
he finally has to grow up.”
