Nicole Kidman, Lynne Ramsay, Ang Lee, Christoph Waltz & More Join Steven Spielberg’s Cannes Jury

Nicole Kidman, Lynne Ramsay, Ang Lee, Christoph Waltz & More Join Steven Spielberg's Cannes Jury

In past years, the jury for the main slate at the Cannes Film Festival has tended to mix in a few bigger names — Alexander Payne, Tim Burton, Robert De Niro, Jude Law  — with smaller filmmakers, producers and more. But it looks like the 2013 jury is going to be the starriest in years, and you might be forgiven for thinking you bumped into a table at the Oscars.

Organizers have announced that Nicole Kidman, Lynne Ramsay, Ang Lee and Christoph Waltz have joined the Steven Spielberg led jury for the 66th Cannes Film Festival. French filmmaker and actor Daniel Auteuil is also on board, as is celebrated Romanian director Cristian Mungiu (he won Best Screenplay at Cannes last year for “Beyond The Hills“) with Indian actress Vidya Balan and Japanese director Naomi Kawase rounding things out.

It really doesn’t get much more star studded than this, and it’s pretty surprising just how many notable names are in the group. But then again, a chance to sit around talking movies with Steven Spielberg in the south of France for a week or so is probably something you wouldn’t want to pass up.

The Cannes Film Festival runs from May 15-26.

Kidman will surely be at the premiere of The Great Gatsby and I can't wait to see her pics with Lurhmann and co! Remember the starry Moulin Rouge premiere?

I sit blithering, eager to I Me Mine my meaningless opinion of no interest to anyone about a professional dispute I have nothing to do with. And I call talented filmmakers morons to make myself feel better.

this moron still hasn't put out a press release for her side of the story

Lynne Ramsey obviously won't show up.

Ugh, I wish Lynne Ramsay would just make another film already!

I'm pretty sure it's "Christoph" Waltz, not Christopher.
