Tina Gordon Chism Sells New Orleans-Set Thriller 'Inheritance' To Sony Pictures

Writer/director Tina Gordon Chism and producer/LAFF festival director Stephanie Allain have reteamed for a thriller titled Inheritance, which they’ve sold to Sony Pictures, in a deal that, according to Deadline, involved DeVon Franklin and Alex Siskin.

The story centers on a young female lawyer handling the case of a New Orleans coffee magnate whose death ignites a chain of deadly events.

Chism and Allain previously paired up for Peeples – Chism’s directorial debut, which stars Craig RobinsonDavid Alan GrierKerry WashingtonS. Epatha Merkerson, Melvin Van PeeblesDiahann Carroll, and Kali Hawk, and which Lionsgate will release on May 10, 2013.

Chism’s previous credits include penning the screenplays for Drumline and ATL. She was also previously attached to Halle Berry’s Nappily Ever After project, which is currently in limbo.

Siskin, Todd Black and Jason Blumenthal for Escape Artists, will produce Inheritance.

Hopefully this will mean even more photos of Chism in circulation, because there aren’t many of her solo. There aren’t many at all actually.

Chism has no IMDb information – no trivia, birthdate, birthplace, bio, no discussion, and any other facts beyond the lone directorial credit and a few writing credits. Not much to evaluate in Chism because this movie looks dreadful.

It is obvious the directorial debut of Chism explains the poor box office performance. This Peeples movie stands to lose a ton of money.

Who is the young lady with her? They look like sisters.

"Hopefully this will mean even more photos of Chism in circulation, because there aren't many of her solo. There aren't many at all actually."

EXCUSE ME?!!! I don't ever remember you celebrating a MALE writer/director getting a deal so he would have more "photos in circulation!" Yes, Ms. Chism is attractive, but Tambay you need to check your libido at the door if you're doing legitimate film industry coverage! Like Kathryn Bigelow, evaluate her on her WORK, not her LOOKS!!

Since you mentioned it, I sure wish that the "Nappily Ever After" movie would get back on track, even if they have to do the movie without Halle. I read the book years ago, and I was excited when they announced a film adaptation.

I didn't know she wrote "Drumline," which was decently good. However, the promos for "We The Peeples" is HORRIBLE! Absolutely no laughs. And since it's backed by TP I'll be interested to see how it does at the box office. I don't think it has any good buzz.
