TRAILER: Cheech and Chong’s Animated Movie

TRAILER: Cheech and Chong's Animated Movie

How did I miss this one for my Oscar checklist? Opening for one night only this Thursday, April 18th, Cheech and Chong’s Animated Movie was directed by Branden Chambers and Eric D. Chambers. Five days later it’ll be available on DVD and Blu-ray (via 20th Century-Fox).

It’ll be playing Thursday night at the Laemmle NoHo7 in LA and in New York, Chicago, everywhere (complete list here). Bring smokes. The good news? The animation was entirely produced in Los Angeles at Chambers Bros. Animation. Take that, Disney! Hand drawn is alive and well… and stoned… Here’s the trailer…

If this is the savior of hand drawn animation, we're doomed.

I'd just like to know how they convinced anyone to fund this. IS Cheeh and Chong still relevant?

Since when does Flash count as hand drawn?

Chris Sobieniak

This is pretty low indeed. It's a shame when they don't like to use their hands much on these movies.

Mike Kazaleh

It's Flash animation alright, and exceptionally bad Flash at that.

Mark Kausler

This looks like mostly Flash animated to me. And if it isn't, it's so mechanical looking it might as well be. Their old short "Basketball Jones" is Pinocchio compared with this stuff. I am very tired of old dope humor (and piss and fart and s…t humor). Cheech and Chong are old men now, and need to hide behind the artificial face and body lifts of "animated" imagery. I think you would have to be VERY STONED to like this picture, especially at FEATURE length! Don't be fooled, kids.

Stephen Persing

Hand drawn? It looks more like they used their feet.
