Watch As Madea Meets Sofia, In A Search For OWN (Video)

Here’s how they describe it:

Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry are coming together on OWN – but Madea and Sofia can’t seem to find the channel. Watch to see what happens when this no-nonsense granny comes meets The Color Purple favorite on a dirt road.

As already reported earlier today, OWN’s first scripted series from Tyler Perry are both set to debut on May 29, on OWN: a one-hour drama titled The Haves and the Have Nots; and a half-hour comedy series called Love Thy Neighbor.

Watch the absurdity unfold below:

Jasmine you are speaking your mind. However, everyone has his/her own opinion. I haven't heard that being said out of his mouth so can you "Direct Me" to where you read and or heard those words. It is to my knowledge that at one point and time, he was homeless and going threw it with his wife. And was it at that point in his life those words were said? IJS. It don't matter one way or another r he will always be well liked in millions or people eyes. Thanks and have a great day.

I didn't realize until after reading the entire plot on Wikipedia – and Gerri Hawkins mentioned 'Tyler does have a history of portraying educated black women as lofty, goldigging skanks who hurt poor, broke, raggedy brothas who are trying to be good to them. He did that in that movie Daddy's Little Girls too. He portrays educated successful black women that either treat good black men badly, or who won't give the good black men a chance.

And how in the current film 'Temptation' the main female character is punished at the end for cheating on her husband – This seems to be some type of metaphor with him saying that successful black women cheat on good black men. When everyone knows an actual good black man who treats black women respectfully is akin to finding a purple unicorn!

And I don't know of any other race on the planet besides black people that enjoys dressing up and acting in negative caricutures or blackface such as: Oprah's mammy character from The Color Purple, black men like Tyler Perry who dress up as black women, black men who portray thugs on TV, and black women that dress like ghetto couture barbie and fight each other on reality shows. And many black people with the black culture today in general enact these stereotypes in real life, not just on TV.

Keep up the good work Tyler and Oprah!

Good video … don't watch much TV though.

Why did I love that??? LOL I am inspired by how hard Oprah fights to maintain her place in the zeigfest. She continues to win, no matter what. And the same can be said for Tyler Perry. I do believe that OWN should be a little more cognizant of its brand (Latoya Jackson, really???), but trust, black women love Tyler, and they are a very, very important demo for OWN. Anyone who thinks that this isn't an ideal partnership, is kidding themselves. Plus, that ish that I just saw was hilarious. BIG O still got it.

Can't lie, I got a few chuckles.

Three things I’d love to see happen on S&A in 2013:

A thorough understanding that there are Black Latinos.

More features from industry professionals, like Cybel Martin’s fantastic articles about cinematography.

ANY Tyler Perry post that does not attract rabid, heat seeking commentary from his loyal disciples.

Aside from that I think the video is very funny, especially with the audio turned down cuz I'm at work.

"All my life I had to fight. I had to fight the press folks… the ratin's, I had to fight dem haters… gurl child ain't safe in a world full of cable channels. I loves OWN, God knows I do, but I ain't gonna let nobody beat me" ~Sofia, aka Oprah

**BIG FINGER SNAPS**…. Simply brilliant!

Great marketing tool, they killed 3 birds with one stone. On one hand they're throwing love to Madea and The Color Purple fans. Yet, on the other hand, without being mean spirited, they're telling that "other" crowd (e.g. suck-butts, haters and simple minded confused black folks) "If you don't know me by now (If you don't know me)!"

You will never never never know me (No you won't)
If you don't know me by now You will never never never know me

We've all got our own funny moods
I've got mine and you got yours
Just get yourself together or we might as well say goodbye
