Watch: Clip & U.S. Poster For Carlos Reygadas' ‘Post Tenebras Lux’

Almost a year ago, we dubbed Carlos Reygadas’ “Post Tenebras Lux” one of the most anticipated films of the Cannes Film Festival and we were proven right when Reygadas won Best Director for the film at the festival. Although the picture did not please all, our critic at Cannes was not especially impressed. Such varying opinions only make the film more intriguing, especially given the Mexican filmmaker’s reputation for using non-professional actors and shooting very raw, explicit sex scenes.

Anyway, if you’re been waiting for it, the U.S. poster and a newly surfaced clip have arrived for the film. The poster is graphically stunning, being the work of Nashville-based graphic artist and musician Sam Smith, whose designs have included posters for Janus FilmsIFC FilmsKino and Zeitgeist Films.  The clip of two very small children at twilight is visually breathtaking, although not entirely indicative of a film that features massive sauna-based orgies. To whet your curiosity, check both of them out below.

“Post Tenebras Lux” will be released in the U.S. on May 1st. [IndieWIRE/Seventh Art]

The photography is amazing and the first 10 minutes are absolutely stunning and among the best if not the best sequence of 2012.
As for the rest of the movie, it's more about what you feel than understand of the plot because the narrative structure is so free and unusual…you will get lost and confused. I have got mixed feelings about the movie and can't say I really like it but if you are looking for something different, for an experience, watch it.

After seeing it twice, I can say it's a pretty damn good film, but elusive and difficult to be sure. There are images in it you will never be able to unsee…
