Watch: Terrence Malick Directed Ad For Sonic Drive-In Plus Brad Pitt Narrated 'To The Wonder' Trailer

Among the many visually stunning moments in Terrence Malick‘s “To The Wonder,” there is one what will give viewers a bit of a pause — it’s the sight of a Sonic Drive-In. Yes, the fast food chain makes a quick appearance in the movie and it’s a jarring reminder that the this is the first Malick movie to take place entirely in a contemporary setting, and hell, he makes it look beautiful. And whaddya know, he’s gone ahead and directed an ad for the restaurant, and it’s pretty shocking.

Yep, Malick has sold out to the corporate powers that be and put together this spot that combines his trademark music and visuals with some tasty burgers. But really, this is obviously a joke — it’s created by Brian Carmody and it made us laugh so watch below. “To The Wonder” hits on April 12th. Bonus round: A Brad Pitt narrated trailer from Rope Of Silicon.

I've actually seen To the Wonder so I found myself chuckling ("what if I choose the wrong thing?") because Sonic does have two key scenes in "To the Wonder" one with hope, one with jealousy.

The sonic one was not funny at all but the brad pitt narrated one got a chuckle here. The original ad was so hammy but sort of worked with these visuals lol

HAHA take it easy guys. The sonic ad was great

Should we blame Keith Jagernauth or his editor for letting this abysmal post see the light of day? Both perhaps. Shameful.

awful post.

This is not the 'first Malick film to take place in a a contemporary setting.' Some of the scenes in Tree Of Life were set in modern day.

thanks for wasting my precious time…

er… I thought April Fool's Day was yesterday !

That was horrendous. Shame on you The Playlist for posting such garbage.
