Created by Neil Jordan, whose new vampire feature “Byzantium” is set to play the Tribeca Film Festival later this month, Showtime’s saga of the most infamous crime family in history, “The Borgias,” ended with a dramatic cliffhanger last season, leaving us to wonder the future of the Papacy (something we later experienced in real life).
The show’s third season premiere aired last night and is now available to watch on YouTube all month long. Starring Jeremy Irons as Rodrigo Borgia, who becomes Pope Alexander VI, the period drama follows his rise to power with the help of sons Cesare (François Arnaud) and Juan (David Oakes), and infamous daughter Lucrezia (Holliday Grainger). After last season ended with Pope Alexander being poisoned, the season three premiere “The Face of Death” picks up to reveal whether or not Irons will be sticking around (take a wild guess).
“The Borgias” is airing Sundays at 10pm on Showtime — the episode below will be available to watch on YouTube until May 15th at 11:59pm.
