Jacob Latimore Joins Aml Ameen In Fox’s Adaptation Of YA Sci-Fi Novel ‘Maze Runner’

Jacob Latimore Joins Aml Ameen In Fox's Adaptation Of YA Sci-Fi Novel 'Maze Runner'

Jacob Latimore has joined the cast of Wes Ball’s The Maze Runner.

He joins British actor Aml Ameen in the Fox film adaptation of the sci-fi YA novel, by James Dashner, which Wes Ball will direct – his feature film debut.

Here’s a description of the novel:

When Thomas wakes up in the lift, the only thing he can remember is his first name. His memory is blank. But he’s not alone. When the lift’s doors open, Thomas finds himself surrounded by kids who welcome him to the Glade—a large, open expanse surrounded by stone walls. Just like Thomas, the Gladers don’t know why or how they got to the Glade. All they know is that every morning the stone doors to the maze that surrounds them have opened. Every night they’ve closed tight. And every thirty days a new boy has been delivered in the lift. Thomas was expected. But the next day, a girl is sent up—the first girl to ever arrive in the Glade. And more surprising yet is the message she delivers. Thomas might be more important than he could ever guess. If only he could unlock the dark secrets buried within his mind.

Will Poulter (Son of Rambow) will play Thomas.

Ameen will play a character named Alby, described as the honorable but stern leader of the Gladers. But no word on what role Latimore has signed up for.

The $30 million movie will shoot in Louisiana this spring.

Up next for Latimore, who last appeared in Vanishing on Seventh Street with Thandie Newton, will next star in Kasi Lemmons’ musical drama Black Nativity

I just watched Brit cult film Kidulthood last night and I found Aml Ameen to have a great "leading man" screen presence, cut from the same cloth as John Boyega and Denzel Washington. I look forward to hearing more about his projects.

CORRECTION: Will Poulter is NOT playing "Thomas." Will Poulter is playing "Gally."
"Thomas" will be played by Teen-Wolf star, Dylan O'Brien. Thanks for the report on Jacob Latimore! Looking forward to saying which role he will play. My first guess is "Ben." Oh boy…. poor, poor Ben. He's so shucked.
