Marlon Wayans’ ‘Haunted House’ Sequel Gets A Release Date

Marlon Wayans' 'Haunted House' Sequel Gets A Release Date

Announced early last month, a sequel to Marlon Wayans’ found-footage horror-comedy, A Haunted House, has officially been greenlit, with Open Road, the company behind the first film, returning to do the same again.

And Open Road has now set an official release date for the sequel for March 28, 2014, which is currently the release date for Darren Aronofsky’s biblical epic Noah, which stars Russell Crowe.

Marlon Wayans co-wrote the A Haunted House, which co-starred Essence Atkins and Cedric The Entertainer. It was released in January, and went on to gross over $40 million domestic, which was huge, considering that the film’s budget was just $2.5 million.
So it really shouldn’t be a big surprise that a sequel was greenlit. I assume the budget this time around will be a little higher, although likely still well below Hollywood averages.
It’s currently on DVD, Blu-Ray, and VOD, if you haven’t seen it.
The tentative title for the upcoming sequel is A Haunted House 2, which will also be co-written by Wayans, who’ll star in it as well.

The film will be financed and produced by IM Global’s genre label Octane, with shooting scheduled to take place this summer.

No word on story however, although, per the press release, expect a similar kind of  R-rated brand of humor.
