Steven Soderbergh Twitter Novella Unfolds, State of Cinema Address (VIDEO)

The online film community has been all a chatter this week since Steven Soderbergh’s State of Cinema Address on “What’s Killing Cinema” at the San Francisco International Film Festival leaked online, first in audio form (our TOH! podcast) and now as a video (view Indiewire’s full recording below).

Though Soderbergh has allegedly retired from theatrical filmmaking — his Liberace biopic “Behind the Candelabra” will hit Cannes in competition this year before premiering on HBO on May 26 — the director has now chosen a new outlet for his creative endeavors. As reported by A.O. Scott in The NY Times, the director’s Twitter novella “Glue” has begun to unfold tweet by tweet on his handle @Bitchuation. As of April 28, Soderbergh finished chapter seven.

Here is the SFIFF State of Cinema Address in full, and read “Glue” here.
