This Short Film Got 1 Million Views in 24 Hours

No permission, no budget, no promotion. Downtown Los Angeles production house The Glossary posted their short, “This is Water,” on May 6; less than three days later, it’s received nearly 1.7 million views.

The film’s audio comes from a David Foster Wallace commencement speech he gave in 2005.

As The Glossary told Adweek’s AdFreak blog, it fell in the category of asking for forgiveness instead of permission.

If you’re one of the few who haven’t seen the film, here it is. It’s a great success story for the outfit, which has a portfolio that features many book advertisements. “As a tiny company in an industry filled with so much talent and
competition, it’s extremely difficult to get your work noticed,” The Glossary told Adfreak. “We’re always looking for what’s next, so we’d welcome
anyone who enjoyed “This is Water” to get in touch with us.”

Changing our over consuming ways, our insatiable thirst for things we don't need is answer while designing cities in a more sustainable way. This will be our only way out of this mind-numbing existence that we are still so blind to recognize. This way of living as is described in the clip in unacceptable, and goes against nature and just thinking about it in a different way will not make it go away. Conforming to the system has never been the answer as this clip suggests we do.
